TaiwanIHA's Origins

In view of the need to further integrate the manpower and equipment available for international health assistance, the Taiwan International Health Operations Center (TIHOC) Xa unified task force covering various government departments and agenciesXwas established in 2004. TIHOC was later reorganized as Taiwan International Health Action (TaiwanIHA) to be more streamlined yet more extensive and more effective in coordinating with other international humanitarian aid institutions on medical and health cooperation and emergency medical assistance.

GOALS

Consolidating resources available for international medical and health aid from both the public and private sector

Cooperating with the WHO and its regional offices, and other international humanitarian aid organizations, to provide various kinds of medical and humanitarian aid to assist developing nations in improving the quality of their public health and medical care

Demonstrating our efforts in humanitarian care and willingness to give back to the international community, as well as our commitment to abide by the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of the United Nations

Promoting international cooperation and peace, and facilitating the sustainable development of the world

Love without Borders- International Medical Relief Integration, Cooperation and Outlook

On March 27, 2009, TaiwanIHA held an anniversary activity at the Foreign Service Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). It showed video clips of its previous missions, the awarding of flags and uniforms to TaiwanIHA’s medical teams as well as Certificates of Appreciation to Taiwan’s non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for their assistance in rescue missions.
